About Us

Bill Reynolds “Bushman” is from Madison, Wisconsin. He has a degree in Geography from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He later earned a Masters Degree in Geography from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee (UWM). In 1984, Bill’s connection to UWM led to his first of many subsequent visits to Belize; a journey that ultimately led to the development of Lower Dover Field Station (LDFS).

In addition to his Belize interests, most of Bill’s professional life in the United States had been working as an Urban or Transportation Planner. He worked for the Regional Transportation Authority in Chicago for 25 years.

He loves Wisconsin football, listening to the Kinks and various Austin artists and organizing the Belize caving trips each year.

Madeline Michiels Reynolds is from Lancaster, California. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) with a B.A. in Ergonomics. She met Bill in 1975 and they married in 1981. Bill and Madeline became Belizean residents in 2008 when they permanently relocated from Lombard, Illinois to Unitedville, Belize.

Madeline’s primary influences were her immigrant Spanish grandparents whom operated a large cattle ranch in an isolated, remote area of Nevada. In 1984, when Bill suggested a goal of living in Belize, his idea sounded like a familiar adventure.

Bill & Madeline have one son, Justin, who, like his father, has a degree in Geography and is a Director at Lower Dover Field Station.
